What is the E.W.R.?
The Electronic Waste Registry (EWR) is an electronic database in which the generation and movement of waste must be recorded. Its purpose is to ensure transparency, prevent uncontrolled waste disposal, and strengthen environmental protection through waste traceability.
Who is required to register with the E.W.R.?
Registration is required for businesses and organizations that generate waste, as well as entities involved in its collection, transportation, and treatment. This includes industries, retail businesses, hotels, and construction or technical projects, provided their activities fall within the relevant environmental categories.
Are there any additional obligations beyond registration?
Yes. Obligated entities must submit an Annual Waste Report by the end of March each year. The report includes detailed information on the quantities and types of waste generated or managed during the previous year.

National Producer Registry: Registration relating to the producer’s responsibility for the recycling and proper management of the products they place on the market.
What is the E.M.P.A. Registry of the H.R.A.?
The National Producer Registry (E.M.P.A.) is the registry in which all producers and importers of products subject to alternative waste management obligations must register. This includes packaging, electrical and electronic equipment, batteries, and other relevant product categories.Its purpose is to monitor compliance with recycling and recovery targets.
What steps are required to obtain a Producer Registration Number?
The process requires electronic registration on the Hellenic Recycling Agency platform, declaration of the product categories placed on the market, and participation in an approved Collective Alternative Waste Management System. Following approval, a unique Producer Registration Number is issued.
Am I considered a producer even if I do not manufacture the product myself?
Yes. Under applicable legislation, a “producer” is any person or company that places a product on the Greek market for the first time. This also includes importers of products from abroad, even when those products are manufactured by another company outside Greece.
